Super Smash Bros Wii U Wishlist
Okay, so most of us love Super Smash Bros (SSB) as a franchise. I remember playing it with my brother on the N64 when his friend couldn’t unlock the characters, so he loaned it to us, and we were hooked instantly. I must admit, though, that I wanted the game when I saw the original commercial with Mario, Yoshi, Pikachu, and DK beating the shit out of each other.
Thus, a franchise was born. There has been an SSB title for the last 3 home consoles from Nintendo, and at E3 2011, they announced that a new title would be coming to their new console, the Wii U. I’m going to be discussing what characters I want in the title as well as some changes I would like to see.
If you agree, great. If you disagree, I don’t care. It’s my article.
Changes
Pity Smashes
Smash Attacks were good fun, but I think that 1 should have the option for a “Pity Smash.” For those unaware (why are you reading this article, if you don’t play the series?), a “Pity Smash” is when an NPC or a Player doesn’t get any kills for so many deaths, so the game gives you your character’s super attack for free as compensation for your severe lack of skill.
This annoyed me when I was taking out some frustration on 3 level-4 comps on a team against me, and then they would each get a Pity Smash before the round was over, costing me 3 lives on average since the random seems to love Lucas, and Link is just plain sneaky.
I don’t mind the handicap, but give the players the option to turn off the Pity Smashes without having to cancel out the Smash Attacks as a whole.
More Players
Okay, this franchise is labeled as a Party Game, yet who holds anything that can qualify as a party with only 4 people involved? Simply put, my brothers and I always love to play this game but dislike facing each other. I would like the option to have 8 characters on a single field of battle at once. Think of the chaos!
That’s what made Melee an amazing title: the sheer level of chaos it had. Doubling the number of players in the field would increase this exponentially. Also, I’d love to fight alongside my brothers against 4 computers as well. XD
Less Floaty
More like Melee’s physics, less like Brawl’s. That is alls.
Character Roster Wish List
Okay, so we all know the roster will expand. This is just what I want from a roster in the next SSB title, provided they don’t kick any1 from Brawl. This list doesn’t speak for every1, though I’d like to think some would agree with me. I’d be completely psyched if Nintendo agreed with me. Anyway, enjoy the list. If you don’t, well, I didn’t MAKE you read it! No, it’s not just 10 characters.
Nintendo
Amamiya Saki (Sin & Punishment)
I was psyched when the Dojo updated their site and saw none other than Amamiya Saki…then, I was agitated that he was only an assist trophy. With a great design and a weapon that would make him a sweet character to play, he’s the 1st that comes to my mind.
Lyn (Fire Emblem Rekka no Ken)
Need some ladies in the fray, and Lyn’s a pretty sweet lady. I’d love to see her tearing through the battlefield with such finesse and speed as only she could wield.
Isaac (Golden Sun)
Okay, I’ve never played Golden Sun, but I love his design and would definitely play as him, especially if he has his Assist Attack from SSBB.
Young Link (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask)
I hate Toon Link. Young Link was awesome, though. Toon Link was from Wind Waker, which was grossly criticized for its cartoonish and kiddy art style. The gameplay was solid, but the art was a major turn off for me. I want to see Young Link return instead. Maybe they should just have alternate costumes and keep both of them in, though…
Fierce Deity’s Mask (Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask)
I don’t think I need to say why I want him. If you don’t know, then play Majora’s Mask and go through it all to get this guy unlocked. He would easily become my main, if they slapped him in there.
Iron Knuckle (Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link & all Zelda titles after)
Simply put, we need more heavy hitters than what the series already has, and the Knuckle hits about as heavy as they come. In OoT, he would deal 4 hearts of damage in a single shot, if you didn’t have the added defense of the white-laced Hearts.
Haunter (Pokemon)
I honestly can’t say much, but I just adored Haunter and figured he’d be a nice middle-ground for me and Pokemon fans. Personally, Eevee’s my fave, but I dunno how well he’d work in an SSB title.
Koopa Troopa (Super Mario Franchise)
My main in Mario Kart. Why can’t I get him in SSB as well? The Koopa Troopa is a brave little S.O.B. to keep charging a fat man who’s decimated armies of his brethren, yet the brave Koopa Troopa presses on, ever vigilant in his quest to protect the world’s biggest douchebag. Poor little guy…
Andy (Advance Wars)
Honestly, I didn’t know who he was this morning, but I saw a picture of him in a comment and figured, what the hell. I like his design.
Custom Character Skins
Yeah, I went there. I love custom characters. The ability to make up my own appearance and give ’em whatever move list I want would rock! I would also like to select Smash Attacks to my liking, so I could play like Link but with Pikachu’s Smash, or however I’d want to do it. Yes, give me lots of custom character slots. Haters are gonna hate, I love this feature, and SSB isn’t terribly balanced anyway.
Former Fighters
Roy (Fire Emblem)
You have no idea how badly this pissed off me and my bro. We would always team Marth and Roy in SSBM, and then, Roy gets cut for Brawl. Judging from comments, many people were upset by his exclusion, and I would like to fight alongside of this power-based version of Marth again.
Mewtwo (Pokemon)
Lucario played nothing like Mewtwo. In fact, no1 did! There was no reason to kick him from the series, and there’s no reason not to bring him back for the sequel.
3rd Party Guests
Knuckles (Sonic and Knuckles)
Sonic was fun, so why not? Besides, we keep getting Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, so why not keep this love going in SSB?
Chrono (Chrono Trigger)
Badass design for a Badass game and would love to see him in SSB. Yes, I have a thing for swords and characters with a serious design.
Sora (Kingdom Hearts)
Sora is an awesome character, and I don’t care to read your inevitable disagreements and flame posts. This is how it is: Sora is a badass who blocks lasers and destroys evil without tripping over his shoes. If that’s not impressive, I dunno what is. Also, I’d love playing as his alternate forms. He can transform with Down + B or something like Zelda does.
Megaman (Megaman franchise)
Megaman got his start on Nintendo’s 1st console and appeared many times on Nintendo systems, even on the N64 with Megaman Legends and is being brought back, so why not?
Jump Guests
Yeah, I know, this ain’t gonna happen, but I think it’d rock! I’m just tossin this out there because I feel like it.
Naruto (Naruto)
He’s the main character, so for the sake of logic, I had to select him. It would have been biased for me to have just selected Itachi, Sasuke, and Neji.
Sasuke (Naruto)
He has been a favorite of mine since the manga started, and it’d make sense, since he’s Naruto’s main rival.
Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)
I don’t like OP, but I do like Luffy, and he is popular.
Zolo (One Piece)
Same as Luffy. Yes, I said Zolo instead of Zoro!
Kurosaki Ichigo (Bleach)
Bleach’s main character, and he would be fun.
Kuchiki Rukia (Bleach)
Had to select another female to balance things. Sorry, Gin.
Allen Walker (D. Gray Man)
Okay, so the above 3 are far from kid-friendly, but who cares? I’d want them in.
Lavi (D. Gray Man)
Lavi was just plain funny, and, while Allen is my fave in the series, Lavi would be a wise and popular choice.
Ohhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah….
So, that’s my list. I won’t bother responding to your flames, so post whatever you like. Disagreements are gonna happen, and haters are gonna hate. This is my opinion, and I’m standing by it. Good day, and I hope to see some of them in the next SSB title, whatever it’s called.
